S. Subbiah has joined Zemax in the new position of Chief Product Officer (CPO) to lead our product team. Leveraging his years of experience, Subbiah will spearhead Zemax’s product team and work closely with CTO Sanjay Gangadhara to build a product portfolio that maps to the strategic vision for the company.

“As we look toward multiple product lines and a more diverse set of customers, the time is right for this addition to our executive team, and Subbiah’s expertise will help us deliver on our strategy to expand our virtual prototyping solution,” said Zemax CEO Mark Nicholson. “I trust that Subbiah’s leadership will help us continue to advance our product offerings and deliver value to our customers.”

Subbiah joins Zemax from ANSYS, where he has held a variety of senior roles over the past 12 years, including leading Corporate Product Strategy as well as North American Sales and Customer Services. As Vice President of Global Product Operations, he was most recently responsible for re-energizing their flagship Fluid Dynamics products, launching innovative new user workflows, and helping exceed their global product sales and sales growth goals.

“Zemax has built an impressive company around one-of-a-kind software products and has reached a pivotal moment for growth,” said Subbiah. “I am excited to help lead Zemax in identifying, prioritizing, and acting upon new strategic opportunities.”

Prior to ANSYS, Subbiah spent 17 years at Fluent Inc. Starting as one of the early employees at Fluent, he played a key role in helping grow Fluent sales via market segmentation. Eventually becoming the Vice President of U.S. Operations, he led an organization of 100+ field operations staff in growing revenues from $24M to $50M in just six years. Subbiah received a B.Tech. in Chemical Engineering from IIT Madras, an MSE in Energy Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania, a PhD in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Delaware, and completed the Executive Program at The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
