Zemax recently launched new updates for both OpticStudio and OpticsBuilder. In addition to a few significant product updates, OpticStudio 21.2 enables Optical Engineers to utilize our latest Structural, Thermal, Analysis and Results (STAR) module to easily visualize and analyze the impact of structural and thermal factors within OpticStudio. OpticsBuilder 21.2 now supports Q-type aspheres and improved design capabilities for creating new designs and removing optical subassemblies.This webinar will review the new features included in this release and demonstrate how these new features work within the software.

Design for Manufacturing of LightPath’s State-of-the-Art Laser Collimating Optics Using OpticStudio

Laser collimation is a vital part of many optical systems for modern applications, such as LiDAR. High-powered lasers present even more challenges to the material selection and design of these collimators. In addition, optical designers must keep in mind practical aspects of manufacturability, cost reduction, and volume scalability using state-of-the-art processes such as precision glass molding (PGM), freeforms optics, and fused-fiber collimators (FFC). During this webinar, Jeremy Huddleston will discuss some of the applications and trade-offs of various collimating lens technologies, along with design rules for manufacturability. Chris Normanshire will then discuss some of the latest tools within OpticStudio that allow designers to efficiently and effectively address these design challenges.
