Introducing the OpticStudio STAR Module

Zemax is excited to announce the coming launch of our OpticStudio Structural, Thermal, Analysis and Results (STAR) module. Coming in late May 2021, the new OpticStudio STAR module will allow engineers to streamline their workflows by visualizing and analyzing the impact of their structural and thermal factors within OpticStudio. For the first time, users will be able to visualize FEA data from any source natively within OpticStudio.
Seamlessly integrated into OpticStudio, the STAR module is perfect for Optical Engineers of all experience levels designing applications for high-powered laser systems, space optics and photolithography. With the STAR module, users with high-powered laser systems can predict focus drift and design compensators to maintain cutting precision. Engineers designing space optical systems can design robust optics for zero-gravity applications. Photolithography designers can now account for thermal and structural effects to design lenses that are diffraction-limited under load.
Results your team can trust
With a new, more powerful fitting algorithm, the OpticStudio STAR module easily loads FEA data sets with less residual errors than existing solutions. With automatic numeric fitting and best-in-class data alignment, the STAR module gives users an accurate and easily accessible STOP analysis. In addition to the easiest to use STOP analysis in the market, the STAR module can load data from any FEA simulation tool.
Automate your workflows
Coupled with the industry leading OpticStudio API, the STAR module provides a STAR-API that enables users to create, customize and automate their optical design workflows. With the help of the STAR-API, users can streamline their processes by automating their common workflows between OpticStudio and their finite element platform.
The next evolution in manufacturability
The OpticStudio STAR module allows users to create more manufacturable products by unlocking new performance insights through visualizing structural deformations and thermal profiles. Soon, OpticStudio users will be able to utilize all sequential analyses, tolerance tools and optimization algorithms alongside their structural and thermal FEA datasets. This means optical designers will have the tools they need to reduce time and material costs by simulating both the manufacturing and environmental constraints before creating a physical prototype.
