Employee spotlight: 14 questions with Ben Robinson

This month, meet Ben Robinson, Business Development Manager at Zemax Europe, who cites closing his first sale as his proudest moment at the company and whose girlfriend recently ran into Rod Stewart—literally!

  1. Briefly describe what you do all day.
    I am responsible for identifying and driving new business sales for Zemax in Europe. Daily activities can include speaking with potential prospects, helping educate new customers on our products, and generally selling our optical solutions to a range of customers. 

  2. What’s the best thing about Zemax?
    Having the chance to work for and learn from an experienced tech company that employs great people. 

  3. What does your workspace look like?
    It’s pretty basic. I have a keyboard, mouse, two screens on stilts, small desk fan, notepad, and a cup of coffee. 

  4. What’s been one of your proudest moments working at Zemax?
    Probably closing my first sale at Zemax

  5. What do you like to do when you’re not at the office?
    Hang out with friends/family, travel, play PlayStation, eat out, and watch different sports

  6. What inspires you? 
    My personal goals. I’m slowly ticking them off one by one.

    Absolutely nobody worth mentioning, but my girlfriend recently wheeled a shopping trolley into Rod Stewart!

  14. What are five words of advice for others in your profession?
    Talk less and listen more.
