The work described here on the design of the camera lenses for the Mars Exploration Rovers was funded by U.S. taxpayers and carried out at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), California Institute of Technology, under a contract with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA).  The author wishes to thank the many people at JPL and elsewhere who worked on this project and made it a huge success.  In addition to the author, four of the lead people for the lenses were:
